The Deer Island Prison, (Stiles labeled it "Jail") dating from 1880-1991 was located on Deer Island in Boston Harbor. It held people convicted of drunkenness, illegal possession of drugs, disorderly conduct, larceny, and other crimes subject to relatively short-term sentencing. It closed in 1991. Originally, Deer Island's House of Industry, established in 1853, was an almshouse.
Round Hill Airport was operational from 1927-1936. The airfield was located on land owned by Col. Edward Howland Robinson Green in Dartmouth, Massachusetts
